Kamina seemed so naive of the ever present danger that they're faced with (talk about courage) this guy showed his mettle from start to finish, with every seemingly impossible situation he always had his way. Even in death...
Ofcourse it wouldnt be so nice without his tandem Simon, the cowardly but ever resourceful kid whom Kamina prophecied "that will pierce the heavens" stood out after his Aniki's demise. He with the crew of their majestic mecha (which always gobbles up every opponent) had carried out their leaders' (Kamina) aspiration. They eventually pierced the heaven and more than that create a time space warp that rip through the universe.
Tenggen Toppa Gurren Laggan had surely pierced more than the heavens but our hearts as well. It had a simple plot but was matched by an uncanny desire to fight for good against all odds.
So, dont be deceived... This anime is more than you can handle.
PS Even the enemy (Viral) was also cool!

I can't, I can't see this all as progress
How did we come this far?
When we see ourselves as deities
Claiming Nature for ourselves
By our actions we betray
The instincts in our race
By our blindness and stupidity
We kill everything - Carbon, VNV Nation
